Holidays are upon us and updates to life...

Where I last left off was toying with the idea of applying to the masters in biotechnology program at the university of wisconsin.

Since then, I have submitted my application and now await submission of my letters of recommendation. That and an acceptance letter are all that stand between me and attending graduate school next fall!

In other news, I had my one meeting with Olga, the stranger, and had not heard from her until I received an email on Saturday inviting me to an event at the Sequoia library. This event showcased some singing, russian music from authentic instruments, and some russian folk tales plus displays and russian treats. I tried this type of russian soda (i think) made from rye which had a unique flavor, and there was also some russian candy.

It was a very interesting event and I learned a lot. The music was folksy but comforting and the displays were neat. We met Olga's husband Vladimir too and got to spend some time chatting. They even invited us over for board games once Sergey and Amanda came home.

Fast forward to my vacation week and thus far I have been productive. Finished West Wing, and am working on finishing a fair amount of library and personal books.

Today I was invited for a tour of the Madison Science Museum with Olga, Amanda, Sergey, Sergey's brother and some other people. It was a great experience and the museum was really well designed. I'm wondering if I can't volunteer and help out as it would be neat to bring some neuroscience aspects to the museum somehow.

I was also invited over on Monday for board games and Russian food and my mom and isaac were also invited. Amanda's dad will be going so it will kind of like a mini reunion and it will be cool for my mom to experience the russian aspects of things!

Other than that, trying to get some wedding planning accomplished and continuing to work on my Russian everyday.

paka!
